Cataclysm will add an enormous amount of new playable content to WoW cataclysm Gold (the previous expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, launched with about 1,000 quests; the pre-beta version of Cataclysm already has more than 3,000), including lots of new places to explore, new high-end "raids" for ambitious adventuring parties, new high-end competitive player-versus-player, and greatly revised versions of existing in-game geography. This will mirror the ongoing story of the game and provide players with the opportunity to test out the game's content at a lower level again as well as for the very first time.

Following the events in the previous expansion which saw a devastating assault by the dragon's elder Deathwing The Destroyer landscape of WoW Cataclysm Classic 's realm Azeroth is forever altered. Important characters that are central to the game's mythology were defeated or went missing, like the chieftain of orcs Thrall and a number of prominent geographical locations are being altered drastically to adapt to the ongoing story and the constant demands of the players. For example, Deathwing's attack on Stormwind, the Alliance home of Stormwind has rendered the once beautiful park district an ash heap (fortunately the druid's trainer was able to escape and relocated).

Both Stormwind as well as Orgrimmar, the Horde home of Orgrimmar are rezoned, they also have additional trading districts, along with additional player banks to help deal with overcrowding. Orgrimmar is also modified to permit distinct districts for the troll, tauren and goblin races and Silverpine, the WoW Cataclysm Classic starting area of Silverpine is now changed to signify the new faction's strategies for conquering. The area was previously the location of a few rotting graves that were buried in the past however, now the Silverpine forest is full of war machinery to produce disease-ridden monsters to conquer Azeroth as well as the areas that start with tauren, Thousand Needles and Shimmering Flats have been submerged and transformed from desert mesas to riverbeds that are rocky.

The world of Azeroth will undergo sweeping changes as part of the Cataclysm expansion.A variety of other important and minor gameplay systems are also being revamped to accommodate the expansion. The user interface is being modified to provide better notifications (such as reminders to learn new skills your character's earned). Other additions to gameplay which were discussed during the previous Blizzcon event have also been given an additional review and some will not be made. The previously planned "path of titans" feature, for example was axed to allow for enhancing its glyphs system. It will include the third "medium" glyph that will help players to further personalize their character. Cheap Cataclysm Classic Gold also introduces an entirely new profession called archeology, that taps into the game's history and history by letting players discover and build commonly-used artifacts, or sometimes locate rare artifacts. These objects are primarily ornaments for the game's aesthetic as well as "toys," though the Blizzard team has suggested that there are some that could be extremely effective weapons, armor or other items.
